The Outdoors

Watersports, Golfing, Walking, Climbing, Cycling - it's hard to know where to start with all these opportunities on your doorstep.

There is some information here but a little research will soon reveal much more.

Watersports

Boatfold Conwy Marina provides 450 berths and is the gateway to every time of sailing. Conwy Marina is the only 5 Gold Anchor marina in North Wales and one of only two in the whole of Wales.

From the Marina, with a sailing boat or motor boat, you can cruise locally around the Estuary and Conwy Bay or a little further afield to Puffin Island, Anglesey and the Menai Straits. For the more ambitious Conwy is well situated for visiting the Isle of Man, Ireland, Scotland and beyond.

But those who want to launch their boat themselves are not forgotten. A few hundred meters to the north of the Village is one of the best slipways in North Wales where anyone can launch their boat on payment of a small charge to Conwy County Borough Council.

Yachtshop marine equipment suppliers have an outlet within the Marina complex offering a huge range of products, attractively displayed, to support boat owners both in Conwy and further afield. For everything electronic, Rowlands Marine Electronics have a well stocked shop and extensive display in their outlet within the Marina complex. Whether you're buying or just browsing you'll be welcome at both Yachtshop and Rowlands.

For those without a boat, boatpoint Boat Sales, part of Network Yacht Brokers, always have a good selection of new and pre-owed boats for sale to get you on the water right away.

Golf

There are several Golf Clubs near the Marina Village : Maesdu Golf Club in Llandudno, North Wales Golf Club in Llandudno, Rhos on Sea Golf Club and Penmaenmawr Golf Club.

But Conwy (Caernarvonshire) Golf Club is in the Village itself and is in a category of its own. Conwy Golf Club promotes and actively encourages the enjoyment of golf at all levels, within a friendly and welcoming environment. It is a championship links Golf course that can be enjoyed by golfers of all abilities, from beginners to champions. The stunning location on the North Wales Coastline combined with the challenging links Golf course provides a memorable experience for all golfers.

In addition to Playing Members the Club welcomes Social Members who have access to the bar and catering facilities.

Walking and Climbing

The view from the Marina Village is straight up Conwy Mountain and the experienced walker can be at the top in less than an hour. But the opportunities then stretch away for many miles across the hills, mountains and beaches. There is nowhere in England or Wales that offers better walking and climbing; from short level strolls to challenging mountain hikes.

The North Wales Coastal Path runs through the Village giving direct access for owners.

Cycling

At first glance the contours of North Wales would discourage all but the most hardy cyclists. But closer examination presents a different picture. While there are certainly plenty of challenging but quiet routes through the mountains there are also many miles of easy riding.

National Cycle Route Number 5 runs through the Marina Village on its way through North Wales. From the front door, the owner of a Village property has access to the Route running on cycle tracks or quiet lanes from Chester through to Bangor and onto Anglesey. Taking Route 8 at Cearnarfon or Route 82 at Bangor, the cyclist can reach Criccieth or Capel Curig on tracks and quiet lanes.

We Cycle is a large and well stocked cycle shop in Llandudno Junction. Cycles can be hired from a number of locations nearby.

The Charity Sustrans provides a very helpful interactive map.
